Lights control on the Eigenharp

For the past few days, I’ve been working on a new Illuminator agent for EigenD that gives you full control over the Eigenharp lights.

There are two main ways of using the lights: fixed patterns and dynamic control. Fixed patterns can be stored in your setup and can be displayed at will. The dynamic control can either be done through messages inside the EigenD system or by sending external messages over HTTP to EigenD. These messages can either control individual lights or set bitmaps that will display directly on the keyboard.

In this demo I show how tweets are scrolling over the Eigenharp Alpha’s neck even while I’m playing on it.

Thats fantastic, Geert. Will you be releasing it?

    • Geert says

It is now included in the latest release of EigenD 🙂

Geert, is there any way to establish ‘root lights’ with the standard version of the software or do you need workbench?

    • Geert says

You need EigenD 2, Workbench isn’t a requirement but it does make it much more intuitive to connect up what’s needed.

We don’t provide support for modifying or creating setups with Belcanto since it’s just too easy to make mistakes. That being said, if you connect the light output of a scaler into a keygroup output light input with Belcanto, you’ll get the scaler root lights.

Thanks Geert. I will check it out.

This seems like something that should be incorporated into the basic setup with, maybe, an option to tun on/off via a button in Stage. I could see this really helping new players a lot!
